I was listening to something recently and the theme of he message was creating a new story. One of the examples was how often do you pick a film to watch and you always basically go through the same archive of films and pick the same films over, and over and over again. I find that to be true in myself on some levels and this is something I am looking to address.

The bigger problem behind this is people do this widely in life.

Q. How many times do you get paid a year and complain without making a decision to make change?

Q. How many times do you have the same arguments with a partner or parent?

Q. How many times do you keep going to the same places and not trying anything new?

Q. How many times do you pick the same foods?

What you are doing is consistency, however some of these things are negative. You have the formula right, but the way in which you are going in some are wrong.

Imagine driving down a train track the wrong way, ultimately you are going to crash. Going the same way as the train keeps you on track. Focus usually is not a problem, direction is mainly.

Saints

For those of us who are New Testament believers, saved by grace and engrafted in as children of faith. We not only have the New Testament writings, we have the Old Testament too. A wealth of knowledge is poured upon us and it really comes down to taking the time out to embrace it. I recently had a question about the Old Testament, and I did a little search. I came across several scriptures which answered my questions. As I stand before you in this article, I realise how the old Testament is an answer book for all of us who are post Christ’s coming.

Looking at the scriptures and watching programmes about the Bible, it made me realise a few things. If you have scripture telling you something in advance, what is the best thing to do? I would say position yourself the best you can, many people did not do this before Christ came and I fear that many will make the same mistakes as their ancestors, according to the opportunity of inheritance by faith. For all of us who are interested in the Bible and more importantly Jesus, we must understand that Christ is coming back. Will you be Pharisee-like and debate with Christ or will you be prepared (Christ warned us to be – “Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come. But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up. Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.” )? They did and these were the men supposed to be learned in scriptures. I am definitely striving for the masteries as Paul explained it (2 Timothy 2:5). If Christ is coming back AGAIN what should you do, knowing the people who expected him rejected him at his first showing? Who is expecting him now?

But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.

Evolution…

All hinges on the resurrection of Christ. In the 15th chapter of I Corinthians Paul asks some important questions. If Christ isn’t risen, our sins are not forgiven and we are destined to die. If he is risen, which he is, we are on our way to life eternal and will not have put our lives in Christ in vain. If we are rising, it means we should be excelling, we should be getting better. As well as getting better, unbelievers who are not rising are depreciating.

Godly perspective

I was at a bus-stop recently waiting for a bus and in meditation with God. I came to thinking about the way people dress and what God thought about it. Imagine a white knitted garment which has no spots or wrinkles and is pressed to perfection. Imagine then pouring black ink on one particular part of the garment. God was using this analogy to represent what it feels like every time we sin against God. We taint the white garment God has for us. God showed us in his word that children are of utmost importance to him. We also see in scripture how Jesus tells us to be like unto children.

Back to my thought, I began connecting the two. I was looking at how children are the way they are mainly because of their parents. When you raise a child, you show them what is acceptable. You largely set the bar for what is right and wrong. Children do the things they do today and feel no way about it because this is what they are taught. With Godly perspective, we can not only look at ourselves, but those after us. God is past, present, future, this means he knows all. If we looked into the future and saw what are children would look like, the things we didn’t like we would look to change hopefully, when we went back to the present. We as believers can do this because God can see that far. I can look at my daughter today being a small girl and allow God to show me her in the future. God can guide me to see what things I should do and what things I shouldn’t.
